Welcome to our home page.  The Radiation Laboratory is one of the eldest research group in RIKEN. Our major activity is to perform an experiment using polarized proton and heavy ions collision at BNL-RHIC, USA.

Gluon polarization is directry probed for the first time.

The first wafer of ALICE- PHENIX pixel readout chips are rrived and tested at CERN, to be used for the PHENIX upgrade.

Discovery of Jet Quenching effect, strong candidate towards the QGP confirmation.

How the spin of proton is formed with 3 quarks and gluons? This is a very fundament question in QCD, Quantum Chromodynamic. The RHIC Spin Project has bean established to solve this problem by colliding two polarized protons for the first time in history, and extended the physics capability of RHIC, Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, BNL. At RHIC QGP, Quark Gluon Plasma, will be created by colliding two gold nuclei, through which we can study the state of early Universe just after the Big Bang. RIKEN Brookhaven Research Center, RBRC, was founded to carry out these research programs.
