DALI2

DALI2 is a high efficiency and high energy-resolution γ-ray detector array designed for in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy experiments using fast RI-beams. DALI2 originally consisted of 160 NaI(Tl) scintillators covering polar angle from 20-degrees to 160-degrees. Its high granulality enables the high-resolution Doppler correction for the γ-rays emitted from fast-moving nuclei.

DALI2 has been used for a variety of experiments at RIPS such as Coulomb excitation, proton and alpha inelastic scattering, secondary fragmentation, and nucleon transfer reactions. For the BigRIPS experiments, DALI2 has been upgraded by using additional detectors to achieve higher efficiency. Since 2010, it employs 186 NaI(Tl) scintillators. In 2017, several detectors were replaced and the array upgraded with 60 new detectors from HKU, now totalling 226 NaI(Tl) scintillators.
