Research Areas

RI Beam Factory (RIBF) which was completed in and in operation since FY2006, is an accelerator facility providing heavy ion beams of the highest intensity in the world. At the end of FY2008, the RIBF produced Ca-48 beam which is close to the target beam intensity, and succeeded in starting a full scale operation.
It is the essential mission of "User Liaison and Industrial Cooperation Group" to maximize the potential of RIBF by promoting its use by researchers from a variety of fields for a wide scope of purposes.

The User Liaison and Industrial Cooperation Group has two teams. User support team (User Support Office) provides heavy ion beam produced from the RIBF which boasts unrivaled performance to worldwide researchers, promotes facility use by both domestic and overseas researchers, supports experiments using accelerator, and solicits new users.
Industrial Cooperation Team is a liaison office for the application of accelerator and related technologies to fields other than basic research, and for handling relevant business.
Two nuclides, Zn-65 and Cd-109, were produced using AVF cyclotron, and have been distributed with charge since October 2007 in accordance with the contract between Riken and Japan Radioisotope Association. In 2009, the total quantity of Zn-65 and Cd-109 distributed were 51.1 MBq and 30 MBq respectively. In February 2010, Y-88 was added to a list of nuclei to be distributed.
