HYPATIA will extend current capabilities of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy experiments currently carried out with DALI2+. The following is a list of some of the experimental methods where in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy is a crucial tool and all of these would benefit greatly from the HYPATIA array.

  • Two-step fragmentation reactions (transition energies, level scheme, Ex(2+), Ex(4+))
  • Coulomb excitation (firm Jπ = 2+ assignment, Ex(2+), B(E2))
  • Few-nucleon removal reactions (level scheme, l-transfer, spectroscopic factors)
  • Inelastic proton scattering (Mn/Mp, Ex(2+), Ex(4+), J assignments)
  • Recoil distance Doppler shift (RDDS) (lifetimes, B(E2))
  • Doppler shift attenuation method (DSAM) (lifetimes, B(E2))
  • Recoil shadow method (lifetimes, B(E2))
